"O" what a feeling! I'm on the O list in Oprah Magazine!

Wow! This is so exciting- the latest issue of O, the Oprah Magazine is on the newsstands, and guess what is part of the O list? The Sensational Statement Earrings and the Dolcetti Necklace are featured, and it is a real thrill, for me and all of our customers.

The earrings were featured as a deal of the day, which means Oprah's staff scour all the stores and websites and work with designers to get a great product at a super price. In our case, I was able to offer the earrings at 1/2 price to Oprah Magazine readers, and so we're part of the '31 days of absolute steals' in July!

The statement earrings are fab, nice big earrings of the highest quality, they are available in 4 colors. We knew about the O list in advance, and ordered lots and lots of each color in anticipation (Oprah's readers know a bargain when they see one) but I have to say we're exhausted from shipping and shipping and have actually sold out a couple of the colors already.

But, plenty more are being made as I type this, so the wait won't be long at all if you want your very own! Of course, with our 'buy one get one free sale' going on, you can get lots of great summer jewelry at reduced prices.

The Dolcetti Necklace is from the RC2 collection, and we've lowered the price for the whole month in order to participate in the Oprah Mag promotion. You also get the bonus, matching earrings with the necklace, which also comes in many colors. These are hand-poured resin pieces, much like the resin jewelry we made in the past that became a famous sensation. New York is in the midst of a heat wave, and for once it is a good thing. Because it's literally too hot to spend much time outside, we are staying indoors packing and shipping jewelry late in the day and on Saturday too. I took a little time yesterday to go down to the farmers market at Union Square, the fruits and veggies are the freshest and we support local NY farmers by buying direct from their trucks that line the park.


Of course, it's a circus atmosphere in the summer, and we had a great time just checking out the people before we bought our corn and fruits! Now, it's time to go and prepare a nice summer salad before checking our Oprah orders again. Ciao!

Fred Astaire would approve

I went down to Union Square the other day, it is a great New York City space- there's so much going on all day and night. There is a green market, where you can get fresh fruits and veggies directly from the farmers who grow them upstate. This time of year, it is so nice to have this much fresh food at your fingertips. The park is filled with people, and you'll see lots of people of all ages enjoying the sun and lying on the grass.

There's a dog run where new york's cutest pups run around having fun. I always stop in Barnes & Noble, this one is huge, and always filled with people. I like to look at the books and magazines, and the people reading them. Well, to my delight, there were my earrings, the Daddy Long Legs, featured on the cover of Bridal Guide. It was fun working with the magazine for this photo shoot, they want the newest designs and of course, the jewelry has to work with the wedding gowns they are featuring. Women choose wedding gowns to flatter their figures, balancing your body's proportions so you look just right on your wedding day. For the gowns they were featuring, I had Fred Astaire in mind.

The vision I saw for this photo shoot came from a great 1955 musical comedy film set in France and New York City. Starring Fred Astaire and Leslie Caron, they have a dance scene that shows us that wonderful 50's style and elegance that is coming back into fashion. It's one of my favorites, and so when I was designing the earrings I named them Daddy Long Legs in honor of that movie. Don't you think it would look as good on Leslie Caron as it does on the beautiful bride on the cover of this magazine? I often consult with bridal parties, we try to get a coordinated look for all the people in the group, and these cubic zirconia earrings are always one of the designs chosen most often by brides-to-be.

After picking up a couple of magazines, I wander around the park, and make notes, sometimes sketches of the fashionable people you can see on every street corner of Manhattan. I check out the students and the businesswomen to see what everyone is wearing, trying to spot the looks that I like and can compliment with jewelry. I think Fred Astaire would have approved if Ms Caron had been wearing my earrings in this movie. It is reported this film was one of his favorites, he liked the script which addressed the complications resulting from a love affair between a young woman and a man thirty years her senior.
That was a bit much for 50's sensibilities, but they sure dressed well !! If you have a wedding in your future, or just want to see some of this elegance, pick up a copy of Bridal Guide.
