October is breast cancer awareness month and until last year it was
something I never really gave much thought to. Today it is on my mind EVERYDAY;
one of my closet friends Linda Fratello was diagnosed with breast cancer in July
2011. I will never forget that phone call and how I cried for her, my
friend. She felt a lump and went to the doctor immediately; within days she
decided to have a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery all at once. She
wanted to make sure the cancer never came back. After numerous surgery's,
some complications and many, many doctor visits (as I am writing this she is at
the doctor for a check up) she is clean and cancer free.
She never lost her faith, sense of humor or desire to look beautiful. I always say we all should be as happy as Linda is and enjoy life the way she does. Linda is my inspiration and should be to all of you who are going through it or know someone who is. She touches everyone she meets; she proudly tells everyone "I am a cancer survivor!"
